Global History of Populism: The Evolution of Concepts and Practice of Political Leadership in the Modern Age
The project’s main goal is to explain the recurrent appearance of populism in the modern age. It shall contribute to the creation of a conceptual framework for understanding the history of populism as a global phenomenon, which will allow suggesting ways to deal successfully with present-day populist movements.
The project has four broad themes: the concepts of populism and the people, the history of populism, the practice of political leadership, and the role of international linkages in fomenting populism.
As a sneak preview of what is to come, check out this analytical roundup focusing on the memes of one of arguably most influential – some argue populist – leaders of our time, Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
